RSW: Strange Attractor

RSW: Strange Attractor

Over here at math-art.net, I’ve written and showcased a few attractors (Lorenz, Rössler). While most of them can be considered art on their own right, here’s one art work, called Strange Attractor, which is art that showcases the Strange Attractor.

Today’s math-art is made by Krystyna Laycraft. Krystyna is a physcist who has a hobby in painting, and when art and science collides, its offspring are nothing less than awe-inspiring.

According to her, Strange Attractor, a painting made in 2005,

… is one from the triptych “Point, Cycle and Strange.” The strange attractor can take an infinite number of different forms. A flock of birds taking off from the ground reminds me the strange attractor, which quickly changes to a beautiful order of flying birds.

And yes, today is still Reader Submission Week. And Krystyna’s daughter submitted her mother’s artwork, and I was instantly floored by it. It’s THAT good.

Krystyna’s art will be further featured on math-art.net, so stay tuned!
