Blue Recursive - A Hilbert Curve

Blue Recursive - A Hilbert Curve

Today’s math-art is Blue Recursive, by Don Relyea. The first time I saw this picture, I was taken in awe of the amazing coloration of the Hilbert Curve.

I was googling around for something else, and came across the Hilbert Curve that Don Relyea made. And that was the first time I know a Hilbert Curve can look so nice. It’s art - algorithmic abstract art. And I like it.

Still, I’d have to say, the cleverest use of the Hilbert Curve in art would be Randall Munroe’s Map of the Internet. I absolutely love xkcd, and have subscribed to it since forever. If you don’t know about it yet, I suggest you do check it out.

And, yea, apparently, Randall figured out the Hilbert Curve all by himself!

Oh yea, before I forgot - the maths stuff, the Hilbert Curve is also known as a space-filling curve. Basically, it’s a method to fill spaces of a grid. :D. There. Succint and easy to understand (though the succintness is due to the fact that I’m bleeding busy).
