Dreaming

Dreaming

Today’s math-art is called Dreaming. Robert Fathauer created Dreaming, inspired by M.C Escher’s Whirlpool. According to Dr. Fathauer,

It is based on a rapid spiral; each successively smaller motif has only 1/9 the area of the preceding motif.

It’s not difficult to find math in this art. Just like Escher’s art, you can find self-similarity, you can find spirals. You can also find it to be a compilation of tessalations, which is what Dr. Fathauer is an expert at.

I chose this image (another one of Dr. Fathauer’s images is very nice too - Angels and Devils), because of its sheer simplicity. It is abstract, but yet simple enough to be appreciated.

And oh, in case I don’t post tomorrow, Happy New Year! May 2008 bring betterment to humanity!
