At Peace

At Peace

This picture is so peaceful. Its beautiful scenery and all elicits a sense of peace and wonderment at nature. And the best of all, this is a math-art. This image was created by Anne Burns, and is dubbed a ‘mathscape’ - i.e. a mathematical landscape.

This image was generated using Visual Basic 5, and is generated using fractals as a basis. Curiously, many fractals appear in nature itself, and it only seems fitting that Anne used fractals to generate her images. It is dark-ish, like a storm is appearing, but not dark enough for it to be the calm before the storm.

I like this. It is artificial, and yet does give the sense of nature, like a photo. The calm, the trees, the reflection of the water, all generated, but all so nice. And we’ll certainly hear more about Anne Burns as the weeks come, on Math-art.net
