A Lyapunov Fractal

A Lyapunov Fractal

Today’s math art is a Lyapunov fractal.

This Lyapunov fractal was created by Francis David O’Brien, a 3D modeller and animator. This was generated on a SGI workstation.

According to Francis, it was

…coded in C and IrisGL (the forerunner of OpenGL) after [he’d] seen some pretty Lyapunov fractals on [his] Amiga 500 and in a copy of Scientific American around 1994/1995.

I chose this over the large collection of Lyapunov fractals I keep on my hard drive because I find that it is far more easy on the eyes than those Lyapunov fractals generated by Mathematica or other math programs. This version is elegantand feels ethereal.
